Having been a lover of Bobbi Browns’ Smokey Eye Mascara I was really keen to try out the new Eye Opening Mascara. (Anything that can help me look more human and less tired in the morning is a bonus)! The mascara launched back in January and I bought it as soon as it was released. I have waited 4 months to give my honest opinions as I often find mascaras great to begin with but then change as they come into contact with the air and end up not achieving the same effect as before.
First impressions, I was a little scared when I saw the size of the MASSIVE brush as I haven’t used a jumbo brush for quite a few years. When using a jumbo brush I find I usually touch my under eyes when applying to the bottom lashes … hello panda eyes! Not the best look. So, naturally I was a little apprehensive to use it.
To my surprise I was amazed with my first attempt, no panda eyes in sight – just massive, long, intense lashes. This in turn made my eyes look elongated and wider creating a wide awake effect. Many of my friends started complimenting me and even thought I was wearing false lashes!
The Eye Opening effect is created by the rich, carbon-black formula thickness, curls and lifts the lashes from root to tip. The jumbo brush grabs lashes and visibly pushes and curls lashes up, lasting up to 8 hours. For a more natural look I only apply one coat but, it is best to apply two coats to achieve maximum effectiveness.
This mascara has fast become my favourite mascara and I’m on my second tube already. The brush is really easy to use and doesn’t smudge under my eyes anymore (either that or I’m not as clumsy as I used to be)!
