Thanks to getting caught out in the sunshine recently and catching the worse sunburn on my back and shoulders, (not recommended, always remember to use suncream)! I have been searching for a really moisturising and hydrating body lotion, to help my skin stay moisturised and attempt to avoid the dreaded peeling stage.

I found plenty of O.K. body lotions at a variety of shops, some expensive and some high street, that I am sure probably would of done the job. However, I was looking for something a little more special. This is when I decided to give Lush as try, as I haven’t really used any body lotion from there before (I know, I’ve been living under a rock for ages)!

I explained to an assistant why I was looking for such a nourishing lotion and after a few more questions she pointed me in the direction of the Charity Pot. Not only can this be used on your body but it can also be used as a hand cream. For some reason, I’ve always been a little skeptical of two-in-one hand and body lotions, I assumed they wouldn’t be great as a dual product. I don’t know why maybe I have just always been loyal to my favourite L’Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream, thinking nothing could beat it. Boy, was I wrong though!

Charity Pot Lush

The Charity Pot is a rich and hydrating cream that not only makes your skin look great and feel great but, also supports small grassroots charities, that care for animals, humans and the environment. From every purchase Lush donates 100% of the profits (minus taxes) to different organisations to help them continue the work that they do.

Some of the ingredients included are Fair Trade Shea Butter, Fair Trade Olive Oil, Ylang Ylang Oil, to give a sweet floral scent and Rosewood Oil, a great antiseptic and uplifting oil.  Those ingredients combined are incredibly moisturising and brilliant for people who suffer from a variety of skin conditions, such as, eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis and even sunburn.

I know the thought of so many oils can be off putting and imagine would be really sticky, but I found a little goes a long way. The lotion sunk into my skin fairly quickly and the smell took a little while to get used to, however, I noticed a difference in my skin straight away. It was glowing! Which is great for a shimmery look, when going out for the evening. It even absorbed into my hands, this is where I found them to be slightly oily and had to wait a little while before touching anything. Because of this, I now mainly use this a night as more of a treatment on my hand and smother them in lotion. When I wake up my hands are so smooth in the morning. I have noticed a lot of improvement around my cuticles – no more little flaking skin around them. I have also started applying a very small amount to the ends of my hair to help smooth and protect my hair when blowdrying and it’s worked a treat.

Overall, I have been very impressed with the multiple uses and will be buying another pot when this one runs out. And remember to keep you clean empties, as you can receive a free face mask when you recycle 5 empty pots! Win – Win!
